Which transformer do I need?

  • Power transformer. Converts mains voltage into the high-voltage and heater supplies your valves need. The Transformer Selector shows the 240V version wherever Hammond makes one.
  • Output transformer. Matches the power valves to your speaker. Choose by power rating, primary impedance and secondary taps (4, 8 or 16 ohm), and by push-pull or single-ended design.
  • Choke. Smooths ripple in the power supply for a quieter amp. Match the inductance (H) and current (mA) to your circuit.
  • Interstage and audio transformers. Used for driving reverb tanks, coupling stages in hi-fi designs and other signal duties.
