Learn to Build Valve Amps

Want to build your first 5F1, understand why a Bassman sounds the way it does, or finally make sense of a schematic? These are the books, websites and YouTube channels we actually use and recommend, from complete beginner through to serious amp design.

We are not paid to recommend any of them. They are simply the people and resources we respect most.

Safety first: Valve amps run lethal voltages, and filter capacitors can hold a charge long after the amp is unplugged. Learn how to drain caps and work safely before you open a chassis. Read our Safety First page before you start.

People We Respect

If you only follow four sources, make it these. Between them they cover the theory, the maths, the hands-on build and the real-world repair bench.
