Resistors

Resistors

Resistors are one of the most underrated components when building an amp that is not filled with noise. Simply popping into your local electornics stores may not prodcue the result you want. Sure one resistor looks like the other but I assure they don't all work the same.

The subject of which resistor is better where could take a page on its own and there is a range of opinions out there (including my own). E.g. People feel that the mojo found in old amps is because they used carbon comps yet all the test seem to suggest they are the noisiest. Then there are the people who spend a huge amount on resistors with the promise of great sound and find nothing special happening. The simple fact of the matter is that we have found the following list of resistors to perform well in any amps we build with the main board using Metal oxide and or cement wire wound resistors.    Evatco has picked out the following resistors for you to help you build a quiet and reliable valve amp.

Types of Resistors

  • 1 Watt Carbon Film
  • 1 Watt Metal Oxide
  • 2 Watt Metal Oxide
  • 3 Watt Metal Oxide
  • 5 Watt Wirewound Cement
  • 10 Watt Wirewound Cement
