Important Product Information: This item is a Component Pack, NOT a Kit.

The 5E3 pack contains a collection of individual parts to save you time when sourcing materials for a build. It does not include instructions, step-by-step assembly guides, or build support from Evatco. This product is intended strictly for experienced builders and technicians.

⚠️ DANGER — HIGH VOLTAGE RISK

Valve amplifiers operate at lethal voltages (often exceeding 350V–500V DC). These voltages can remain stored in components even when the amplifier is switched off and unplugged. If you do not have the proper technical knowledge, tools, and safety protocols to work with high-voltage electronics safely, please do not attempt to build or work on this project.

Build your own Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe, the late-1950s amp behind countless classic rock and blues records. Two interactive channels, a single tone control, a pair of cathode-biased 6V6 power valves and a 5Y3 valve rectifier give it that famous tweed breakup: clean at low volume, rich and compressed when you turn it up.

This pack contains the electronic and hardware components needed to assemble a complete 5E3 chassis, from the transformers and valves down to the wire, screws and solder lugs. The full list, with quantities, is below.

There are a range of 5E3 schematics and layouts on the internet. This pack is based on Rob Robinette's 5E3 layout, which we feel is one of the clearest and best documented. You can find that layout here, and Rob explains every part of the circuit in How the 5E3 Deluxe Works. Please check every part against the schematic and layout you build from.

Kit Features & Highlights

  • Two Interactive Channels: Normal and Bright channels, each with its own volume and two inputs, sharing one tone control. Jump the channels for the classic thick tweed sound.
  • Authentic Valve Tone: Powered by 2x 6V6 power valves, a 12AY7 and a 12AX7 in the preamp, and a 5Y3 valve rectifier for classic vintage sag.
  • Genuine Hammond Transformers: 290BBEX Tweed Deluxe power transformer and 1760E output transformer with 4, 8 and 16 Ω taps.
  • Ready to Build On: Includes a 5E3 chassis, a 5E3 turret board, Fender-style ceramic octal sockets, 1M CTS pots, vintage cloth pushback wire, and every resistor and capacitor on the list below.

About the layout: Rob Robinette's layout adds two small improvements to the original 1950s circuit: a standby switch, and a 1.5kΩ grid stopper on each 6V6. Both are included in this pack. The original Fender bright cap was 500pF, which is the value we supply (the layout shows 470pF; either works).

Knobs are not included, so you can choose the style that suits your build. Browse our amplifier knobs range to find a set for your 3 controls.

Finish Your Tweed Deluxe

Need a cabinet look to match? Our gold tweed authentic woven fabric and beige, brown and gold stripe grill cloth give the period-correct look, and our free Tolex & Grill Cloth Estimator tells you how much to order. For the original sound, pair the amp with a Jensen P12R 8 Ω alnico speaker. See our 5E3 Tweed Deluxe parts list for everything else, including tools.

Please Note: This pack does not include the wooden amplifier cabinet, speaker, control knobs, or cabinet hardware (handle, chassis straps, feet, tweed covering and grill cloth). High-voltage electronic assembly required—recommended for experienced builders or qualified technicians.
